Unlock your fitness potential!

If you follow your favorite celebrities online, you may see them post their current workout routines, favorite breakfast recipes, and even their best self-care practices. So we researched some of the most popular celebrity workouts to see how we could implement their routines into our everyday lives.

Adele was in the news for her extreme 100 lbs. weight loss along with the workout plan that she followed to accomplish this. While her plan included hiring a personal trainer, we’ve got some tips to implement her strategies on your own without having to hire one!

Jennifer Aniston has also been in the headlines for her workout routines and eating plan (hello, intermittent fasting!) And Jennifer Lopez, even in quarantine, shared her at-home circuit training workout with her family. If JLo’s kids can keep up with her workout, then any of us can!

One thing that all of these celebs have in common is that they stick to their plans. With all the fad diets and workout plans out there, it’s so easy to get sucked into the next social media influencer’s workout or celeb’s crash diet. But these ultra-successful and gorgeous celebs are steadfast in doing what works best for them, being consistent, and listening to their bodies. Here are a few aspirational celebrity workouts to add to your routine.

Train Like the Celebs

Adele worked out with her trainer for 60 minutes at a time for three days a week. She combined cardio and circuit training, which is a form of HIIT workout. HIIT workouts are great for weight loss because they constantly keep your body guessing what’s coming next, which keeps your body moving to burn more calories.

JLo’s quarantine workout followed a similar protocol: she combined a quick run with kettlebell swings, push-ups, and bent-over rows. Notably, JLo took a different approach to this type of circuit training and HIIT workout: she timed it at 20 minutes and challenged the family to see how many rounds of the workout they could do in 20 minutes.

Similarly, when Jennifer Aniston was trying to lose weight for a role, she would add some cardio bursts into her typical yoga workout. While this isn’t technically a HIIT workout, it still follows the same principle as what the other celebs do: add in different types of workout moves, like cardio or strength, in between your normal exercises to change things up and keep your body guessing.

Add interval training to your regular workouts. If you’re used to running, walking, spinning, or lifting weights, add intervals to these exercises. For cardio, you can speed up for 30 seconds and then slow down for a minute before repeating. For strength training, you can do bicep curls and then move on to push-ups. Do all of your upper body exercises for one round and then repeat them all for a second round. This is better than simply doing three rounds of the same exercise and then moving on to the next exercise.

Adele also added Reformer Pilates sessions to her workout routine to help with weight loss. She reportedly loves the sleek and toned look that core toning and training provided.

Reformer Pilates works the abs, glutes, inner thighs, outer thighs, backs, and arms by continuously engaging the core throughout all movements. Whether you’re gliding back and forth on the machine, using the stirrups on your feet, or are on your hands and knees doing exercises, each move is done with precision and perfect form to ensure the core stays engaged.

To train like Adele on the Reformer, add full-body core strengthening moves to your workouts. Moves like forearm plank, side plank, and Pilates roll-up can be done while holding dumbbells; this simultaneously challenges your arms, back, legs, and also you’re core.

Jennifer Aniston does a variety of workouts to constantly change it up and keep her muscles guessing. She foxes and does interval workouts, yoga, and yoga with cardio – you name it. These workouts depend on what she’s training for – whether she needs to lose weight, maintain it, or tone up. She works out for 60 to 90 minutes a day. But if you’re having fun boxing or flowing through an upbeat yoga practice, time flies!

Do workouts that you enjoy! Being in shape does not need to be a grueling process. Longer workouts can be fun too if you’re doing an activity or a workout that you enjoy.

Eat Like the Celebs

Adele’s food regimen included three green juices a day along with plenty of veggies with lean proteins. She allowed herself to have chocolate and wine just twice a week. In any case, three green juices a day can get pricey! Unless you’re juicing yourself at home, the cost of each juice can add up. If you’re on a budget, find green juices at the grocery store that are on sale and low in sugar!

Allow “unhealthy” foods to be a regular part of your diet. Looking forward to chocolate or a glass of wine on Fridays is allowed even when trying to get in shape and be healthier!

Jennifer Aniston swears intermittent fasting, which can be performed in a variety of ways. However, she sticks to the standard 16 hours of fasting and eight hours of eating. This means that she consumes her meals in an 8-hour window, typically by skipping or delaying breakfast.

Intermittent fasting can be a successful weight loss strategy. I’ve had clients report not only weight loss but also increased energy and focus thanks to intermittent fasting. However, I recommend doing this only two days a week to start to see how your body feels. Unlike the celebs, you probably don’t have a nutritionist or doctor checking in with you daily to see how you’re feeling and to help alter the plan. So start small and see how you feel.

While Adele’s go-to drink is green juice, JLo’s is water on repeat. The singer and actress gulp water before a workout and afterward – all day, to help flush her body of toxins and recover.

Think Like the Celebs

The motivation to get in shape for the hottest celebs in Hollywood comes from within themselves. They are self-motivated to feel (and look) good.

Some may look at Adele’s story (she “seemingly” lost 100 lbs. through a deprivation diet and intense workouts twice a day) and hastily conclude that she did it for a certain role. However, that is not the case. Adele herself has said that she wants to be healthy and set a good example for her son. She has always said that she’s more focused on feeling good and the health benefits of her new habits rather than just weight loss.

Connect to your reason WHY you want to lose weight, work out more, or eat healthier. The bigger the “why”, the easier the “how” becomes. The more motivated you can feel to get healthier for yourself (and not for anyone else or outside forces), the happier you’ll be!

Final Words…

JLo has been quoted saying that working out is part of what makes her so happy – that’s why she never skips her workout. And while celebs like JLo are seen with picture-perfect bodies on the red carpet, it is inspiring to hear that they exercise because it makes them feel happier, in a better mood, and more energized. Isn’t that what we all want?!
