Learn everything about the new Haus Labs Foundation!

From Selena Gomez to Ariana Grande, celebrities and their makeup brands are taking over the beauty industry. Lady Gaga recently relaunched her makeup line, Haus Labs, and released a viral Haus Labs Foundation product that we’re super excited to try out.

The overall brand focuses on areas important to us, including clean ingredients, science, creativity, and kindness. We love everything the company stands for and wanted to put their new Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation to the test! Here’s the full scoop on the Lady Gaga foundation launch, including the shade range and our first impressions.

Haus Labs

Haus Laboratories launched in 2019 as an Amazon-exclusive brand. In June 2022, the company rebranded as Haus Labs by Lady Gaga and changed its focus.

Now the company is centered on clean beauty and sensitive, acne-prone skin. To that end, Haus Labs removed more than 2,700 “dirty” ingredients from their products, such as sulfates, phthalates, and parabens. The brand is also certified “Clean at Sephora,” cruelty-free, vegan, and fragrance-free.

Additionally, Haus Labs is on a sustainability journey and is committed to using glass, aluminum, cellulose, and post-consumer recycled materials whenever possible. Their secondary cartons are made from Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper and are 100% recyclable and compostable.

These sustainability efforts have reduced the brand’s impact on the climate and contributed to its goal of being 100% carbon-neutral by 2027.

Haus Labs Foundation: About the Launch

Haus Labs Foundation
About the Foundation!

The Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation is infused with over 20 skincare ingredients, including fermented arnica. It helps reduce redness and irritation, evens skin tone, and protects against environmental stress.

The Haus Foundation has a weightless, serum-like texture and seamlessly blurs the skin. You’ll love the long-lasting formula, which provides a natural yet luminous finish.

The foundation launch consists of 51 shades ranging from 590 to 000. The color families include Deep, Medium Deep, Medium, Light Medium, Light, and Fair with Warm, Cool, and Neutral undertones.

How to Apply

Haus Labs Foundation
How to Apply It?

The Haus Foundation should be applied to clean, moisturized skin using either the Haus Labs Foundation Brush, fingertips, or a beauty sponge. As the foundation provides buildable coverage, it can be applied in a variety of ways to give you different finishes.

This works great as a medium-coverage foundation when applied with a sponge. However, if you want a little extra coverage, consider using a foundation brush.

To wear the Haus Labs Foundation as a skin tint, warm the product with clean fingertips. First, start at the center of your face and spread out the foundation as if you’re applying skincare. Then press and pat the product with your fingertips in areas where you want more coverage.

Finally, to use as a contour, choose a Haus Foundation two to three shades deeper than your usual foundation. Add a small amount to the edge of your brush, swipe underneath your cheekbones, and buff out.

Finding My Shade Range

Finding My Shade Range!

To find my color match, I compared the shade range to my current foundation (NARS Light Reflecting Advanced Skincare Foundation in the shade Syracuse).

An important thing to note when choosing your shade is how the brand describes its undertones. In the beauty world, warm tones are considered either peachy, yellow, or golden. Cool tones are usually described as pink or blue. Finally, neutral is considered a mixture of both warm and cool tones.

Haus Labs’ undertones are the opposite. The company defines warm as either pink, rosy, or peach, whereas cool is yellow, golden, or olive. I typically look for foundations with neutral or warm tones, so I was confused when the shades labeled “cool” closely matched my skin.

I initially chose the pigment load 350 Medium Cool. After wearing it for a day, I decided it was too dark for me and exchanged it for the pigment paint 340 Medium Cool. This shade pulled slightly orange on my skin, but after my makeup was done it was a great match.

First Impressions

The first thing I noticed about the Haus Labs Foundation was the luxurious packaging. The product is in a beautiful frosted glass bottle with the “H” logo indented into the cap. It also has a pump for easy and clean application.

Now let’s discuss the foundation itself. I put two pumps on the back of my hand and applied them with a damp Beauty Blender. I was pleasantly surprised by the thin, easily blendable formula.

When I finished applying the foundation, it seemed very tacky on the skin. The Haus Foundation is described as having a “serum-like texture.” That’s exactly how it felt upon application, almost as if it wasn’t going to dry properly.

If you have oily skin, I’d recommend using a setting powder with this foundation. I chose loose powder because it sets my skin best, but feel free to use your preferred powder.

Wear Test

On the first day, my skin looked flawless and glowy. However, by the evening, the foundation had separated and sunk into my pores. This was only noticeable when looking at my skin up close.

I attempted to correct the issue by changing how I applied the product. First, I switched to a gripping primer, which allowed the foundation to adhere to my face better and appear more natural.

Then I used a brush instead of a damp Beauty Blender to build the coverage. Unfortunately, these changes didn’t prevent separation from occurring by the end of the day. Despite this issue, the foundation still looked amazing in photos and was a good finishing product overall.

Final Review

If you want a natural yet glowy finish, then the Lady Gaga foundation is for you, especially if you have dry skin.

The product may not wear evenly throughout the day if you have oily skin as I do. However, whether I use one pump or three pumps to build the coverage, I still get an amazing finish every time. I recommend trying this product to achieve a “your skin but better” flawless look.
