She’s beautiful, she’s radiant, and she’s also over $100. Recently, the La Mer Soft Fluid Foundation caught my attention. Upon seeing many reviews from some of the top beauty gurus on YouTube along with the astonishing price point, I was just so intrigued that I had to try it. Would its value live up to the price? For that much money, this foundation better be able to make me look flawless, file my taxes, and take my car in for an oil change.

The La Mer Soft Fluid Foundation

340 Suede - Medium Skin with Warm Undertone 1 oz/ 30 mL

La Mer is a high-end brand that you can find at Sephora or Neiman Marcus. Surprisingly, the Soft Fluid Foundation is one of the lower priced items from their lineup. They are known for skin care with amazing and long-term anti-aging benefits along with a few other makeup products.

The Soft Fluid Foundation has medium, natural coverage, an SPF of 20, and buildability for all-day wear. La Mer claims this foundation will help blur any imperfections, pores, and fine lines. Many celebs, including Kim Kardashian, and celebrity makeup artists, such as Patrick Ta, swear by this foundation as well.

When put to the test, this foundation actually delivered exactly what was promised. All of my fine lines and pores were blurred. With someone who has normal to oily skin, I could heavily powder and bake my face but still have naturally radiant looking skin – something that was greatly appreciated. I felt like I could have a very sheer amount on my face for a more natural look or build it up to get a nice amount of glam coverage. The foundation also generally layered very well with other products.

What are some great other products that can work with this foundation? When you’re shopping for this type of foundation, you’re probably all about radiant and flawless skin, so this is how you get just that.

Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Concealer

Mother Pat delivers when it comes to complexion products. This concealer gives us coverage that can perfectly pair with a medium foundation like the La Mer foundation, but it also has a natural, skin-like finish.

Huda Beauty Tantour

Medium 0.42 oz/ 12g

This is perfect to pair with the La Mer foundation to help keep that natural, radiant skin look. Huda Beauty did a great job at creating a cream contour that blends so beautifully into the skin. To get that beautiful naturally radiant look, we are going to try to use as many cream products as possible.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Translucent 1 oz/ 30 mL

I’m sure this comes as a shock to no one, since it is the best setting powder in Sephora. With so many dewy products, it would be best to lightly set them with a slightly more mattifying setting powder.

Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Blurring Under Eye Setting Powder

Medium 0.14 oz/ 4.1 mL

If you’re going for the more natural, non-baked look, then this is a must have. You can’t necessarily set your base with this powder, but it’s perfect to give your skin that extra blurred and flawless look.

Is it worth the price tag though? That’s something for you to decide. I would rate this as a very good foundation that lived up to its claims and lasted all day. Is this a great foundation with great ingredients and flawless coverage? Yes. Can you find another foundation at a cheaper price point that could give you similar results? Also, yes. However, if you have the extra money to treat yourself, then I would definitely suggest investing in a foundation of this quality.
