Have you ever wondered how your favorite singers and actresses keep their skin looking so healthy and clear? The secret is establishing a good nighttime routine. Dermatologists say that the evening is the best time to treat skin concerns like acne and dryness because topical products absorb better at night. So that’s why most celebs have skincare rituals that they always complete before bed.
A good nighttime routine isn’t just about taking care of your skin, though – you should also try to make time for self-care. Whether it’s using a meditation app or drinking a warm cup of tea, many celebs do something to unwind and relieve stress at the end of their busy days. This helps them drift off faster and get some much-needed beauty sleep.
To give you some self-care ideas and skincare tips, we’ve covered the nighttime routines of four of our favorite female celebs below. After all, if you want to achieve flawless skin, who better to get advice from than supermodels like Lindsay Ellingson and Hailey Bieber?
Lindsay Ellingson

Whenever we’ve seen Victoria’s secret model Lindsay Ellingson on the runway, her complexion has always been dewy and glowing. We can’t wait to try out her nighttime routine to get our skin as runway ready as hers!
Cleanser
First, Lindasy uses Enro Laszlo’s Sensitive Cleansing Oil to wash off her makeup after a long day of shooting. It has nourishing almond and andiroba oils to combat dryness, which can happen if you wear heavy makeup all day like Lindsay does.

She applies it with a cleansing brush to make sure it deeply cleanses her skin and removes all the makeup from her pores.

Exfoliator
Next, she gently scrubs her face with this exfoliating polish from Lancer Skincare to remove dead skin cells. It gives her skin a microdermabrasion effect at home without the high price tag.

Moisturizer
Lindsay continues her nighttime routine with the Shani Darden Retinol Reform serum. It has low levels of retinol and lactic acid to help reduce hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and fine lines without irritating the skin.

Finally, she layers on the Extended Stay Overnight Hydrating Mask from her own skincare line Wander Beauty. It’s free of parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, and synthetic fragrances, so it’s a great natural mask. She says the combo of watermelon and rose water oil leaves her skin looking luminous in the morning.
Other nighttime routine essentials
Lindsay never goes to bed without taking a bath for at least 15 minutes. She usually uses Dr. Singha’s Mustard Bath, which opens her pores and helps remove impurities. She says it makes her sleep like a baby too, which is always a plus!
Her last beauty secret is this rose quartz facial massager. She uses it to give herself a lymphatic massage, which can help firm up the skin and treat acne and dryness.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner uses a mix of products from Kiehl’s and her own brand Kylie Skin to get the flawless visage we’ve seen in her recent Instagram selfies. Shop the products below to copy her nighttime routine and hopefully get the same clear complexion.
Makeup remover
Kylie begins her nighttime routine by taking off her makeup with Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. They’re fragrance-free, gentle on the skin, and great for removing waterproof mascara.
Cleanser
Then Kylie heads to the sink and uses the Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash or Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Acne Cleanser depending on her mood. Both products make her skin feel fresh without drying them out.

Exfoliator
One of the products Kylie swears by is the Walnut Facial Scrub from her own skincare line. There’s been some controversy over this scrub because it contains walnut shell powder, which can be too abrasive for people with sensitive skin.
But if your face can handle physical exfoliants, we think you’ll love it – the tiny pieces of walnut are great at sloughing off dead cells and renewing the skin. Just make sure that you only use it one or two nights per week like Kylie does to avoid irritation.
Toner
A lot of women skip toner, but Kylie uses it religiously – maybe that’s how she gets such flawless skin!
She alternates between the Vanilla Milk Toner from Kylie Skin and the Rare Earth Pore Refining Tonic from Kiehl’s. They help prep her skin for serum and remove any makeup that her cleanser may have missed.

Serum
After toner, Kylie applies a single pump of her Vitamin C Serum. She says it sinks into her skin immediately and really helps brighten it up.

Spot treatment
If she has any acne, she’ll take a cotton swab and apply a little Mario Badescu Drying Lotion on the blemish. It contains sulfur and salicylic acid to dry out your spots and get rid of them overnight. We’ve been using it for years, so we understand why Kylie loves it!

Moisturizer
After she does her spot treatment, she applies the Kylie Skin Moisturizer all over her face. It has shea butter and glycerin to hydrate and soften the skin, and it’s even fragrance-free.

Eye cream
Finally, Kylie ends her nighttime routine with an eye cream to help prevent fine lines and wrinkles. She either uses the Kylie Skin Eye Cream or Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, which is one of our personal favorites. It’s super hydrating and thick, so it’s great for people who suffer from dry skin under their eyes.

Other nighttime routine essentials
To keep nighttime cravings for unhealthy foods at bay, Kylie keeps a sliced up apple by her beside to snack on while she watches TV.
Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys started going makeup-free in 2016 and has inspired us and so many other women to embrace their bare face. She says she feels more empowered and true to herself without layers of makeup, and we think she looks absolutely gorgeous without a scrap of foundation on her skin!
Forgoing makeup really allows her natural beauty and glowing complexion to shine through. If you want to get her radiant look, check out her nighttime routine and skincare favorites below.
Cleanser
First Alicia wipes her face with a damp washcloth or cleansing towelette. Then she gives her skin a deeper cleanse with the Deep Clean Detox Cleanser from Osmosis Beauty.

She says she needs heavy duty, medical grade cleansers to keep her skin looking great, and this one from Osmosis fits the bill. It has coconut surfactants and citrus oils like lemon and grapefruit to help remove dirt, oil, and other impurities and brighten the skin.
Toner
Next, Alicia spritzes her face with a toner that has antibacterial ingredients like honey and tea tree oil to help combat acne. Although she doesn’t recommend a specific product, we think this Tea Tree Water from Lush would be right up her alley.

She also sprays a little Sacred Rose Water Aromatherapy Toner all over her face and body. She says the uplifting floral scent is good for your heart and your skin!
Spot treatment
If Alicia has active breakouts, she’ll dip a cotton swab into the Advanced Anti-Blemish Lotion and apply it to her spots. She says it doesn’t smell the best because it has sulfur in it, but it still works like a charm and clears up her acne quickly.

Moisturizer
If her face needs some extra hydration, Alicia will use her favorite moisturizer from Epicuren, which contains antibacterial propolis from bees.

She also takes care of her body by applying the Scottish Fine Soaps Au Lait Body Butter all over her arms. It’s enriched with cocoa butter and milk protein to deeply nourish the skin.
Lip balm
To finish off her nighttime routine, she’ll apply a little rosebud salve to her lips to keep them plump and moisturized.
Other nighttime routine essentials
Before she washes her face, Alicia gets in comfy sweats and wraps her hair. She also pours herself some fruit-infused water and lights a candle or incense to relax. She even sets an intention for the night like relieving stress or letting go of things that are bothering her. Alicia believes that asking the universe for what you want can have powerful results, and we definitely agree!
Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber is a beautiful model with equally gorgeous skin. Surprisingly, she doesn’t use many products to keep her face looking flawless. If you don’t have time for a skincare ritual with lots of steps, you’ll love her simple nighttime routine below.
Makeup remover
Hailey’s most important beauty rule is never sleep in makeup. Even if she gets home from a night of partying in the wee hours of the morning, she always grabs a wet washcloth and wipes it off.
On a normal night, she likes to use the Drunk Elephant Melting Butter Cleanser or some plain coconut oil for makeup removal. She’s also a fan of the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes just as Kylie is.

Cleanser
One of Hailey’s favorite cleansers is the Bare Minerals Pureness Gel Cleanser. It has ingredients like coconut oil and glycerin that help hydrate her skin and give it a radiant glow.

Toner
Hailey uses toner pads from her dermatologist Christie Kidd right after she cleanses to keep her skin looking bright and healthy. Justin even joins in and uses them too!
Although you can’t get the exact same product Hailey and her bae use, these Daily Peel Pads from Dr. Dennis Gross are just as good. They have green tea extract and salicylic acid to reduce pore size, redness, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Serum
Hailey’s favorite nighttime serum from Dr. Barbara Sturm is on the pricey side, but it is totally worth it.
It has long chain hyaluronic molecules to provide your skin with immediate hydration and short chain molecules to replenish the moisture reservoirs deep within. This will cause your skin to look healthier and reduce the appearance of dehydration, fine lines, and wrinkles. Applying it at night will also help it sink in better, giving your skin even more of this serum’s benefits.
Moisturizer
To lock in the moisture from her serum, Hailey follows it up with a special moisturizer from her dermatologist or the SkinLongevity Vital Power Infusion Moisturizer from Bare Minerals. It’s super hydrating and contains coffee bean and peony extracts to help brighten up dull skin.
Lip balm
Hailey keeps her lip care routine simple and affordable by slathering on either Aquaphor Healing Ointment or Vaseline Lip Therapy.
Sometimes she’ll even put Aquaphor on her eyebrows, lashes, and any dry spots on her face to help moisturize and soften them. It sounds weird, but it works!
Other nighttime routine essentials
Hailey believes that getting quality sleep is one of the best things she can do for her health, so she uses a few products to help herself drift off quickly. She applies a lotion that’s infused with CBD all over her body to relax and unwind. Sometimes she’ll take CBD oil or melatonin as part of her nighttime routine as well.
Hailey also does body scan meditations using an app like Calm before bed. Lying down and directing her attention to her breath helps get her mind off things and promotes deep sleep.
If you don’t have the money or time to follow a multi-step skincare routine, don’t worry! You don’t have to buy a ton of skincare products to take good care of your skin. Just find a high quality cleanser and moisturizer in your budget that work for you along with one or two relaxation methods you can enjoy every night. Then you’ll be well on your way to establishing a great nighttime routine!
