Fall is here, and cooler, drier air means our skin needs extra care. My skincare journey has been a long process, but along the way I found a few skincare lines I can’t live without.

La Roche Posay is a French skincare company well-known for its gentle and effective formulas. I have yet to try a La Roche Posay product that hasn’t worked for me. La Roche Posay is easy to find wherever skincare is sold, and many of its products are designed to support a healthy skin barrier.

Cleansers

Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Wash

The great thing about La Roche Posay is that it has options for many skin types, and this Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Wash (now sold as Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser) is one of the most versatile. The product details say it’s suitable for normal to oily skin, but I still love it for my drier skin. This facial wash removes oil, makeup, and dirt without stripping the skin. Add a little water for a satisfying lather. This purifying facial cleanser does not leave my skin dried out like some other cleansers. After rinsing off this cleanser, my skin feels clean and fresh for the rest of my routine. 

Pigmentclar Brightening Deep Cleanser

Update (October 2026): La Roche-Posay lists this cleanser as discontinued in the U.S. The Pigmentclar Brightening Deep Cleanser is an exfoliating cleanser designed to clear away oil and build-up from pores and brighten dull skin. Because exfoliating cleansers can be irritating, it’s not the best choice for sensitive skin. If your skin tolerates it, it can help even out dull, uneven skin tone over time. 

Toners

Effaclar Astringent Toner for Oily Skin

Oil and dead skin cells can clog pores and make them look bigger. The Effaclar Astringent Toner is a gentle exfoliating toner that helps clear that build-up to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores. Large pores are often an indication of oily skin. This toner can help refine skin texture and is a good pick for anyone wanting to smooth out their T-Zone. Effaclar Toner for oily skin is the perfect pair with the Pigmentclar Brightening Deep Cleanser. Together they may help with mild breakouts. For stubborn or painful acne, see a board-certified dermatologist.

Effaclar Shine Control Clay Mask

Still from the same line of Effaclar, this clay mask is a 2-in-1 purifying face mask and skin mattifier that helps mainly oily skin. This clay mask absorbs excess oil, controls shine, and helps clear away impurities. It leaves skin feeling smoother, and like the rest of the Effaclar line, it’s formulated for acne-prone skin and tested to be non-comedogenic.

Thermal Spring Water Face Mist

If your skin feels tight and dry or you want your makeup to look fresh all day, try this Thermal Spring Water Face Mist. I do not think toners or face mists are essential products like cleansers, moisturizers, or SPF, but I do love to incorporate this product when my face is feeling extra dry.

I use this whenever I need my makeup to last all day and not melt off. A face mist like this works well right after your cleanser, before serums and makeup. Just follow it with moisturizer, since water on its own evaporates and won’t lock in hydration.

Serums

Hyalu B5 Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Hyaluronic Acid is one of the most talked about ingredients in skin care, and so many people love the benefits of using it as a serum. The Hyalu B5 Hyaluronic Acid Serum is one of La Roche Posay’s best-selling products for a reason. Hyaluronic acid holds onto water, so this serum hydrates and plumps your skin and leaves it feeling supple. It also contains vitamin B5 (panthenol), which helps soothe and support the skin barrier, and well-hydrated skin makes fine lines look less noticeable. Honestly, what more could you want out of a serum? I have recommended this product to people with dry, normal, or oily skin, as I have heard back nothing but great results.

10% Pure Vitamin C Serum

There are a plethora of Vitamin C serums on the market for a good reason, as vitamin C is one of the most researched antioxidants in skincare. However, pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) is unstable and breaks down with light and air, so well-formulated versions often cost more. La Roche Posay’s Vitamin C serum is reasonably priced compared to many other vitamin C serums. Vitamin C can help brighten skin, fade dark spots, and protect against sun-related aging. The 10% Pure Vitamin C Serum also has salicylic acid to help keep pores clear. Store it away from heat and light to help it last.

Moisturizers

Ultra Sensitive Skin Moisturizer Set

Update (October 2026): La Roche-Posay now sells this as the Dermallergo Sensitive Skin Moisturizer Set. Last winter, I experienced really dry skin that would turn to horrible flakey skin and acne around my eyes and chin. My skin had been clear for so long but all of the sudden turned sensitive. I needed to calm my dry, irritated skin, so I searched for an intensely hydrating moisturizer to help protect my skin from flaking. I came across the Ultra Sensitive Skin Moisturizer Set from a recommendation by a friend.

The Ultra Sensitive Skin Moisturizer saved my skin. It’s designed to support a damaged skin barrier and works well for dry, sensitive skin. I use the day moisturizer, eye cream, and night moisturizer every day. Initially, I was shocked to see that it was not heavy on the skin. This formula is really light and penetrates the skin really nicely. Eye creams usually cause burning and irritation to my skin, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how delicate this eye cream feels while working very effectively. The Ultra Sensitive Skin Moisturizer set is perfect for the upcoming winter. 

SPF

Anthelios AOX Antioxidant Serum with SPF 50 Sunscreen

La Roche Posay upped the ante with this SPF Antioxidant serum. Not many skincare lines offer this unique formula. Sun damage is a major cause of wrinkles and uneven skin tone, so daily protection like this serum helps prevent new fine lines and dark spots. This formula is a serum and SPF combined and can be used with moisturizer and/or makeup.

Anthelios Clear Skin Oil Free Sunscreen SPF 60

Sunscreen is one of the best ways to prevent premature aging and sun damage. Dermatologists recommend a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Anthelios Clear Skin Oil Free Sunscreen does not leave a white mask and glides on the skin so smoothly. I use this product every day and reapply throughout the day. When you’re outdoors, reapply about every two hours, and after swimming or sweating. This product leaves your skin protected and smooth, and I love that I can use it easily under makeup. Ever since I began using this product, my skin has looked smoother and more even. 

Final Thoughts

La Roche Posay has many amazing products for body and skin with a unique product for every skin type. My experience with this skincare line is completely positive, and I love their formulas. Their prices are a little higher than other drugstore brands, but the products work as effectively as any high-end brand I’ve tried. All in all, La Roche Posay is a skincare brand that I would recommend to anyone.
